Rubber Ducky You're the ONE

Today has been such a great day so far:

1. It's Friday!

2. Today is my day off!

Oh yeah. Double whammy (is that only a negative phrase?)

Last night, my lovely friend and her family invited me to visit the LDS Temple in Gilbert. It was gorgeous and such a great experience. This is going to sound extremely weird... but ever since I moved to Arizona, I have been completely curious about the LDS church. I truly appreciated that the church invited everyone to tour the temple before it was dedicated AND I appreciate my friend for being patient with me while I asked thousands of questions! If you are in Gilbert and have not visited the temple, be sure to visit before they dedicate it!

I woke up early but felt completely rested this morning. I woke up to the sound of colon's alarm going off and proceeded to bother him. hes sleeping peacefully next to me and I thought it necessary to lightly shove him a couple of times while whispering, " up!". He always says that I wake him up every morning and bother him, so I could not stop that tradition!

Anyways, we both woke up in such a great mood so he decided to work from home! Oh yeah. I think he was just going to miss me so much. So yeah... he is currently holed up in his room (aka his office/ game room/ computer room) while I am lazing around.

I have been catching up on blog reading, commenting on friends blogs, catching up on Youtube videos, playing video games and searching for a phone case. It has been months since I got my phone and I still do not have a case for it!

During my internet escapades today, I came upon a clip to a Superbowl commercial starring.... TIM TEBOW! Love him! Ever since he donned the University of Florida campus with his yummy presence! BTW We both donned the campus with our presence in 2006! GO GATORS!

I also stumbled upon a PSA video (in this article) that apparently plays in Australia (I guess...) and warns students to stay in school. Hmm.... creepy!

I am absolutely in love with accents and Lauren Conrad posted an awesome video.

For those of you from the areas with the above accents, did she do them correctly? To me it sounds legit but my ear is untutored and I would not even know the difference!

I have been following Crafty is Cool for a while and have seen when she created Doctor Who dolls. She just recently created The War Doctor and it is awesome!

How could I forget to include a few Pentatonix videos. Loving the one with cookie monster!

So pretty!

To end this very long post... I want to mention Charisma's post concerning change. I really am glad I stumbled upon this post this morning. Such great advice. I am horrible with change and have a hard time dealing with it. Because of this, I have been stressed out at work. so much change!. Now I just have to take Charisma's advice.

Thank you Girl Scouts

Today... was a great day.

I woke up an hour early and was ready for the day. There was no struggle to open my eyes. There was no hesitation. SURPRISING!

Work wasn't as stressful today. Thank you Jesus!

Girl scouts came into the office today and I could not resist the cookies, especially the Thin Mints! Oh MY GOSH... drool. I have a feeling they will be coming in more often to sell their cookies to visit me.

I was able to get off early to bring my car in for maintenance. Another reason I have been stressing lately. My car has been having trouble shifting gears and the "check engine" light came on. So, I made my way to the shop today. My car got pampered and things seem to be OK with my car. I still have to look into the gear shifting, but still... They didn't see anything wrong at the shop today. Car problems suck! They just always cost soooo much money!

the good news brightened my day and I am so happy!

Colon and I are now relaxing and checking out the happenings on the internet.

I reposted this controversial article on my Facebook and was surprised by the response. I don't agree with the author but am surprised by all of the hate that she is receiving in response to the post. Let the woman have her opinion! No need to post such mean comments on her blog. No need for name calling. That is what bothers me the most... the name calling. I know she was quite rude and judgmental in her post, but retaliation by way of name-calling is no better than what she did in the post! Don't stoop to her level.

Colon has been sending me some of the awesomest (I know it isn't a word... Grammar Nazis please do not get on my case!)links on Gchat!

Colon obviously knows that I want another turtle...

He also knows about my obsession with The Office, Disney princesses and Sailor Moon. Thus the cross between the Sailor Moon and Disney!

Relieved and not too stressed at the moment!
That's OK with me :)

Hope your Tuesday was just as good as mine! Hopefully you don't have speaking problems like I do!

I'm baaaack!

Yup. I am! it has been so long and honestly... nothing much has happened lately.

Colon and I have been lazy butts and have been spending most of our time relaxing and not worrying about anything. Just spending time together.

My mind still has flashes of the thoughts I mentioned in my last post. I cannot help it. I know better but I just can't control it. There are a lot of changes happening at work and the stress and discomfort just keeps increasing.

But change is good. I have to remember that. Everything will become "normal" again. I just have to keep telling myself that.

In the meantime, I will keep living my life. Keep pushing forward.

Things that have been keeping me company this week...

Bob's burgers. Love this show. Makes me laugh so hard.
Borgia. So corrupt. An Italian version of the Tudors. Another favorite show of mine.
An unexpected gift from a best friend...
Attending a semi formal event with my boytoy.
I got all prettied up.
I curled my hair.

Doesn't he look handsome?
Love the vest!

Someone never lets me take pictures of them...
I played with the camera and made funny faces...

Don't I look funny?
Reading has taken up much of my time.
I have a few more books to add to my list!
It'll be updated soon.

Colon and I visited YC's yesterday.
We weren't impressed.
Actually, we were quite disappointed.

I leave you with one link that I stumbled upon the other day.
I know.
where do you stand?

Can I ruffle your hair?

It feels amazing to have today off. Last week was hard and I had a major mental crisis last week due to happenings at work. Have you ever asked yourself,

"What am I doing here?"

"What is the point?"

"Am I  cut out for this?"

These questions don't come to me often. The last time I was taunted by these thoughts was when Colon and I were having issues. These feelings exploded in me throughout last week. I felt so unsettled and so inadequate. I will not go into details. Nothing extreme happened. Just small things that made me emotionally raw. Thank God for amazing team members that helped me through it.

By the end of the week, I felt ten times better. I made sure to put things in place to make me feel better.

I changed my phone background to a picture of Henry Cavill. Not just any picture. This one:

Can you say YUM YUM! :)

I have been reading up a storm! It always makes me feel ten times better.

I have been watching old episodes of Doctor Who! So good!

I had a fangirl moment over a David Tennant Youtube video...

I also have been playing around with a website that links to different classic versions of Windows and iOS that you can play with within a browser. Bring on the nostalgia.

So yeah, besides work, my life has been very calm and relaxing.

Now I am going to spend this day off reading and listening to calming music.

Maybe some Tumblr will be present in my day!

First books of the year...

Today was such a rough day at work. I am feeling... raw. That's the best way I can put it.

It felt so good to come home today. I just needed the time to unwind and spend time away from people.

Reading sounds great right now. I have been reading up a storm these past few days. The books have been calling me and I will not avoid their call. This year is starting off strong. Three books to add to my list. All, except the last listed here, were hard to put down.

The first two books were out of my usual historical-fiction era. I was hesitant to read them since I am so used to books set in England, but I am glad I proceeded to read these books.

The Scarlet Contessa by Jeanne Kalogridis is set in Renaissance Italy and follows the half sister of Caterina Sforza and their plight together. I have always been intrigued by the Borgias and this book touches on the politics and intrigue that the Borgias were involved in. Read this book! You will love it.

The Turning of Anne Merrick by Christine Blevins is another book set in a period that I do not usually read about: the American Revolution. This book is basically a romance between Anne Merrick and her love Jack Hampton. I was weary of this book at first. I usually do not like books set during this time of American history but this book proved my instincts wrong. I loved it and am eager to read more books by Christine Blevins. Another must read.
Ambersley by Amy Atwell took me forever to read. I started it last year and never quite finished. I got distracted by some of the library books that I checked out and found myself picking it up again this year. I started over and was hooked. This time around, the book did not seem so slow. I would hate to give the happenings of the book away, so read the synopsis on Goodreads and pick it up now!

The Earl's Inconvenient Wife by Ruth Ann Nordin was a disappointment. I liked the story, but foudn myself annoyed with Claire, one of the main characters far too often. I almost put the book down less than half way through the book because she was just so childish. I honestly would not recommend this book. Sounds mean doesn't it?

Anyways... I am going to read now. I know it'll make me feel better!

It has been 9 days since I have posted. I just have not been in the bloggy mood.

Plus... I went through this whole day thinking it was Thursday. Such a disappointment when I figured out the truth!

My mom ended up leaving. It seems she took my happiness for a day. The day she left, we all woke thirty after 5 in the morning to head to the airport. I was exhausted and contemplating a refusal to give her a ride. But I knew I had to do it. that day, I felt emotionally raw. I did not cry, but I missed my mom a lot. Colon was such a sweet boy and made sure that he kept me company.

The rest of the week went by. I used work to keep me occupied.

Work has been crazy, though. Friday was the last day for one of my coworkers. He moved to a different office. The office has been different since. The last few days at work have been... weird? I just have not been comfortable. The change really shook me and I need to get it together! i will. I know I will. BUT new people in the office always make me nervous!

Now all I am going to go through my camera and upload pictures from the hike with my mom!

I will leave you with a few photos from when she was here...

I miss my mommmy.....

Before they leave...

Spending time with my mom and my aunt has been amazing. They leave in less than 12 hours and I am struggling with sadness. I do not want them to go! We are sitting here watching chick flicks and relaxing together. Trying not to talk about their impending departure.

I know there has been a lack of posts these past few days. I just have been trying to spend as much time with them as possible.

We have eaten at In-N-Out a couple of times. Visited Lee Lee's Market too many times. Ate yummy food at the Cheesecake factory. Shopped too much.

Today we hiked Mormon Trail on South Mountain. They loved it!

Sad... I DO NOT want them to go! WAAAAHHHHHHH!

Since I do not have much to say... I leave you with a fun video. A blast from the past.

...and a couple of cool links

Mrs. Teacher at Tragic and Lovely linked an audio clip of JRR Tolkien and it was awesome.
I want Sphero so badly!
I have a huge crush on Henry Cavill.
So handsome.
This is what Colon thinks that i will do when I meet Mr. Cavill.
Colon feels like this all the time. The guys face says it all! (sent to me by Colon)
An interesting read about men and the flu.
How I feel when Colon plays video games.
Oh, how I love Doctor Who.

Toodles ya'll!

new goals...

Every year as the new year rolls in, the new years posts start piling up. I didn't create too many resolutions this year. I just had a few goals that I wanted to accomplish this year.

As I have been catching up on my blog reading, I have come across some great posts that have inspired me for the new year.

Entirely Nilda posted about a word for 2014. I am thinking of creating one this year. I just need to think about it.

Charisma at Charismatic Concepts has a great list on how to make 2014 your best year yet. While all of her suggestions are great, the last one is my favorite. I want to focus on doing things for others this year!

Charisma also divided her 'goals" into three categories. Again, I am going to work on paying it forward this year.

Kristen at This Radiant Life has plans for 2014. She is going to do some amazing things. i am completely jealous of her meeting up with Alyx!

So many people with great goal lists. My list seems so... short and inconsequential. I think I am going to come up with more meaningful goals for this year.

Good idea, right?

Some time with my mom...

2014 has treated me well so far.

New Years eve was relaxing. It was great to be able to see my coworkers and wish them a Happy New Year. After work, I rushed home to get ready to meet up with one of my middle/high school friends (his name is Charles). It had been years since I had seen him and I was extremely excited!

We ended up going to the Old Spaghetti factory and eating a ton of food. I was so happy to be conversing with Charles again. When we were younger, I would always "bother" him. t was great catching up. i ended up inviting him and his friends over to watch a couple of the football games. Around 10pm, they headed out to Tempe to the block party to bring in the New Year. Colon and I were going to go, but I was feeling so sick and so tired. I actually fell asleep 30 minutes later.

How did we bring in the New Year? I slept. Colon played video games into the wee hours of the morning.

But I felt great when I woke the next morning.

I picked my mom and aunt up on the first day of the year. She flew into Phoenix and I could not stop smiling that day. We took her to have lunch at Rudy's. After dropping Colon off at the house (he was not feeling well since he was also sick and did not get any sleep the night before), we headed to Lee Lee's market. We bought a whole bunch of ingredients for my mom to make Filipino dishes! Yummy!

The past few days have been filled with bonding time with my mom.

I don't want her to leave!

2014: Goals and such

Last year, I didn't really make resolutions. The only goal I made was the 24 in 2013 book goal. I am proud to say that I exceeded my goal and exceeded my expectations.

Throughout the year, I started using Goodreads. It is such a great site and an amazing tool to keep track of books I would like to read and to keep track of the books I have read. It even allows me to create a yearly reading goal!

I finished the last book of the year on New Year's Eve. It was number 50 on my list and it was damn good! The last two books on my list were phenomenal. I was entranced by the stories and it was so hard for me to put the book down. They were able to keep my attention during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.

The last three books of the year were:

The Darling Strumpett- Gillian Bagwell
A fiction about the life of on of King Charles II's mistresses. Sometimes it was crude and unnecessarily graphic. I could not believe what I was reading at first. I thought it was slow and almost put the book down, but the pacing changed midway. By the end of the book, I found myself wanting to read more about this lady.

The Red Queen- Philippa Gregory
The Kingmaker's Daughter- Philippa Gregory

As i said before, the last two books were amazing. Again, Philippa Gregory shows up on my list of books and I am praising her writing. I found myself enthralled by the War of the Roses and the women that were silent players within that time period. I have said it before and I will say it again:

Pick up a Philippa Gregory book. You will not be disappointed!

Since, I was able to complete my goal, I plan on doing another reading goal for 2014. instead of doing 24 books, I will increase it by an extra book a month. So, I will go for 36 books in 2015. I promise myself that I will not read just to complete my goal. I will read for the joy of reading. I will not read a book unless I really am interested in it. I do not want to lose my love for reading so I will stick to these promises.

This year, I will also create other resolutions (which can be seen on my 43 Things page). This year I will:
* Pay off both of my credit cards
* Blog (at least) once a week
*Make sure to do NaBloPoMo
*Keep in touch with my family!

I am looking forward to another amazing year!

Come on 2014!

Mid year, 1988. That was when I entered this world. That means there have been 24 New Year celebrations. This will be my 25th New Year celebration. How crazy! Today is the first day of 2014CRAZY! How is it possible that time has gone by so quickly!

So much has happened in 2013...

I spent last New Years with my mom, cousins, and sisters.

I stressed out about the change that a move would cause!

I moved out of Florida, drove across the country to settle in here in Arizona.

I have found a job, traveled to Vegas, Flagstaff, Sunrise and Sedona. I have attended a wedding in New York. I have learned (sort of) to ski and have gone hiking (several times)!

Colon and I have worked on issues.

We have done so much this year. A year of change.

I cannot wait to see what this year will bring.

Come on 2014. I am ready for ya!

Happy New Year to you all!
