Oozma Kappa... I'm OK

The frequency of my posts have been sporadic lately.
I just can't keep it together.
I come home from work exhausted.
All I want to do is cuddle and relax.

My last post was written at the beginning of the week.
The week started off quiet and relaxing.
It turned into a crazy and draining week.
Work has been... stressful.
It was the last few days of the quarter.
This means that we had to make sure things were in order to get my bonus.
After a lot of work this week, I made it!
Thank God.
Extra money for my vacation savings, a gift for Colon, and student loan payoff. :::ugghhhh::::

Colon came back from Santa Clara on Wednesday.
I was so lonely without him.
When he got back into town, he picked me up and took me out to eat.
We went to BJ's.
I LOVE this place.
It reminds me of the first time Colon took me to a BJ's.
He was interning in California and we shared a pizza and a pizooki.
I also had my first taste of their homemade cream soda.
Yummy!
Anyways, Wednesday night was great.
We shared a pizooki AND I had two glasses of the cream soda.

We then came home and watched my all time favorite movie, Rebecca.

Via

I have read the book a thousand times and seen the movie a dozen times.
It is amazing.
I definitely recommend it.
Hitchcock did an amazing job in portraying the characters.
Joan Fontaine is gorgeous and plays Mrs. De Winter well.
Laurence Olivier... just so freaking handsome and such a great actor.
Read the book (before watching the movie)!
You won't regret it!

After a long and crazy Thursday, our team had a dinner.
Fully paid for by the company.
It was nice to be acknowledged for all of our hard work.
The team members talked and got to know each other on a more personal level.
We were treated to Gordon Biersch.
It wasn't bad but I was not really impressed by the food.

I didn't just eat unimpressive food this weekend.
Colon surprised me last night to a Cuban restaurant called
Mimita's Cuban Cafe.
We were weary when we walked in.
We are both used to REALLY GOOD Cuban food.
And we really were surprised.
The food was great.
I ordered Rabo Encendido.

Via

My absolute favorite dish that my grandmother makes for us kids.
It was yummy.
Just not as yummy as my grandmother's.
This restaurant made it onto my weekly-must-have list.

Friday was the day that I realized the summer would be unbearably hot.
Everyone that came into work was muttering "I'm melting".
The weekend temperatures were horrible (as seen in my Instagram pictures below).

Via

Via

How the heck does it get 100+ ?

This is ridiculous.

Do you know what else is ridiculous?

The amount of fun Colon and I had today.
We finally graced the Phoenix Premium Outlets with our presence.
Yup.
We went shopping.
We only intended to check everything out...
...sans extensive card swiping.
We only wanted to pick up jeans for Colon.

We did not follow our intent.
When we first got there, we walked into several non-jean related stores.
We swiped the card in Nine West.
They were having a sale and Colon wanted to get me some new work shoes.
Such a sweet man.
So, I left with two new pair of pumps!

Next, we swiped the card at Fossil.
You see, Colon never was an accessory person.
He does not like necklaces, rings, bracelets, etc.
That is why I was so surprised in December when he started looking for a watch.
He had something picked out and his mother ended up buying him a watch for Christmas.
He loved/s that watch.
When we walked into Fossil today, we found that same watch in a different color.
It was on sale.
And it stole his heart.
Then we found out Fossil was having a "buy one, get one half off" sale.
We are suckers.
Colon walked out of that store with two new watches!

We walked out of Fossil and decided that we should just go straight into Levi's and buy the jeans.
That would be our last stop.
We bought the jeans and headed home.
But, I made sure to take some random pictures before we left.

Via

Via

Yup. I took a picture with a cactus and with a turtle figurine that was in the kids play area.

I am glad that I cannot say that my day ended there.
It didn't.
Colon and I went to go see Monster's University.
Such a great movie.
Such an amazing end to the night.
Go see it!

Man, this weekend was amazing!

I cannot wait for Thursday!

Not-so-regular

Today was a not-so-regular day.

I had the day off.

It was amazing.

I woke up late.
Went to Taco Bell and enjoyed my first Chalupa in years!

Via

While chowing down, Colon called. He was on his lunch break and I loved hearing his voice. It really was weird waking up and not seeing him next to me. We spoke about a couple of things, but something that was a constant part of the conversation was how much he missed California. I could hear it in his voice while he was speaking. And we spoke about EVENTUALLY moving to California. Interesting.

Anyways, Lunch was followed by thrift shopping and a stop at the drugstore. Needless to say, five more colors were added to my lipstick collection!

Via

Can you believe that I bought 5 Milani lipsticks for a dollar each! I know they are usually cheap.
But still!
It's a steal!

...and my day did not stop there. I pulled out my knitting needles and got to work on some of the yarn that I had. I made a warm scarf for the winter and another one is in the works.

Oh yeah!

Productive.

Yet lazy!

Perfect Tuesday!

It won't bring itself in

Monday's really do suck.

I wish it was still the weekend.

Colon left early this morning for Santa Clara. He has business meetings the next couple of days and I miss him terribly. The house is so quiet. SO lonely. I miss him!

I keep thinking about this past weekend.
It was relaxing.
... and extremely lazy.
Colon worked on his soldering project and I caught up on various things.
We did end up leaving the house on Sunday to pick up a few things that Colon needed for his business trip.
We ended up checking out San Tan Village
We had a yummy lunch at Kona Grill
I also came across Charming Charlie and felt the need to stop in and check it out.
Colon is super sweet and was encouraging me to get stuff.

He was amazing this weekend.
I think he felt bad for focusing on his soldering project because he kept saying things like,
"You are the best".
"I Love you!"

He is just... the love of my life.

I miss him.

At least I get the time to myself to catch up on my personal projects and my reading time.

I just have to take the trash in by myself.

Doesn't it look lonely out there?

TGIS

This week was long. And rough. Hence the lack of posts.

Work was stressful.
Next Friday is the end of the quarter. SO much to do before then. We are short staffed which makes it ten times harder. SO much more pressure on everyone else.

Sleep was interrupted.
Yup. I did not have a full nights sleep this week. Thursday night was plagued with nightmares. Not the zombie-chase or ghost nightmares. No. It started with a nightmare about being mugged while walking to my car. I woke up. I then had a nightmare about someone breaking into my house.
I felt so insecure Friday. I kept looking over my shoulder and questioning everyone that looked at me funny. My nightmares really affected me!

FINALLY continued one of my projects.
Via

I started a cross-stitch project when I was STILL living in Florida. I finally dug it out of storage and made some progress on it this week. I plan on turning this into a small handbag. I just need to ACTUALLY finish the cross-stitch portion of it!

Rekindled my love affair with reading.
I mentioned that I was having a hard time getting into Madame Bovary before. Well, I ended up finishing the book this week. I have to say that the book DID get SLIGHTLY better.Just not good enough for me to recommend the book anyone. I was just too bored and found that I forced myself to read it.

This week, I added two more books to my 24 in 2013 resolution.

24 in 2013: Progress

1.Frankenstein - Mary Shelley
2. The Constant Princess- Philippa Gregory (Reread)
3. The Other Boleyn Girl - Philippa Gregory (Reread)
4. Gone Girl - Gillian Flynn
5. Forever - Judy Blume
6. The Boleyn Inheritance - Philippa Gregory
7. The Queen's Fool - Philippa Gregory
8. The Virgin's Lover - Philippa Gregory
9. The Other Queen - Philippa Gregory
10. Mr. Darcy's Diary - Amanda Grange
11.The Canterville Ghost- Oscar Wilde
12. Madame Bovary- Gustave Flaubert
13. The Abandoned- Amanda Stevens

Now the question is... What to read next?

Colon stayed up ALL night last night.
He came home yesterday with a soldering iron and other materials for his "soldering station".

Via

Via

He stayed up all night playing video games and working on a project.
NERD!

Anyways. At least it is Saturday. The weekend. Finally, some relaxation!

Thank God it is Saturday!

Reminiscing...

Colon and I enjoyed a bottle  few glasses of wine on Saturday night.
We try to do this regularly, but lately we just have not been buying/ drinking wine.

I was so excited when he showed me the bottle on Saturday.

Via

Just seeing the bottle brought back memories.
You see, Colon and I went to that very vineyard on October 16, 2010.*
We spent that day vineyard hopping in Napa Valley.
We only got to go to 5 or 6 vineyards but we enjoyed each and every one of them.
Hagafen Cellars was one of our favorites.
We loved the atmosphere.
Just beautiful!

So... yes. The bottle meant so much to me.
AND I know it meant a lot to him.
He immediately asked,
"Do you know where this is from?"
when he showed me the bottle.

I felt the urge to look through my pictures from that trip.

Such an amazing trip.
The winery was beautiful.
Small.
Cozy.
Intimate.
Amazing wine!

XO

*I don't mention it by name here. But I mention the Napa trip! I promise I will recap that trip WITH pictures at some point in the future!

The weekend went by too quickly...

I cannot say that enough.
I know today is going to be busy at work and...
I am not looking forward to it.

Why do weekends fly by?

Saturday
Waking up to Colon to Colon's alarm was not fun.
He started his day by going to the gym.
I didn't.
I stayed in bed for a little and then cleaned up.
Once he got back home and showered, our day of errands commenced.
We had lunch at Chipotle (Carnita bowl all the way!)
We then made our way to Ikea.

We spent the rest of the day watching Bob's Burger's (hilarious)

Via

and putting the bed together.

Via

We ordered pizza for dinner and spent the rest of the night relaxing together.

Sunday
Another late day.
Another hot day!

Via

Grocery shopping was a must and we bought some yummy food!
We bought a pineapple.

Via

...and the ingredients for my favorite Filipino stew.

Via

Such a relaxing weekend spent with the boyfriend.

Now this new week has started.
Hopefully it goes by quickly so that I can enjoy another weekend.

The best...

Happy Father's day to the most amazing dad I know.

He is still the smartest man I know.

The strongest man I know.

The most honest man I know.

The most loving man I know.

He has sacrificed so much for all of his children and would do anything for them.

Dad.

I know I cannot call you since you are out in the Middle East.
But, I thought you should know:

I love you!

Happy Father's Day.

Sugar never really was so sweet...

Via
...and my name is spelled horribly wrong!
Thursday night
I watched Colon play volleyball.
I missed the rain terribly. *
I spent WAY too much time posting
I had trouble sleeping...
which led to only three hours of sleep.

because I had a 7:30 am work meeting.

which made this necessary.
and the work day DRAGGED on.
A coworker was fired

and another quit.

Understaffed.
Rough Friday.

Cigar run with Colon.
Chocolate covered pretzels. **

Coincidence.
Sister seated next to Colon's brother on a plane from NYC to Miami.
Not planned.
Completely random.

Good nights sleep.

Happy Saturday!

THANK GOD IT'S THE WEEKEND!

Letters... June 14

Photobucket

Dear Kirsten. Happy Happy Birthday. I miss you so much and I love you to death! You are amazing! I hope yesterday was special for you! You deserve it! I am sad that I wasn't able to get in contact with you yesterday but know I am thinking of you! LOVE YOU!

Dear me. You need to get on the New Years Resolution thing. I know that Archie Comics keep getting in my way but still. Get it together. Dear Madame Bovary. I am having trouble reading you. I have no idea why. You are boring me so far! Dear Weekend.  I am ready for you and have been waiting for you since Monday. Another FULL weekend for me! Dear Colon. When are you going to update your nerd blog? I want to learn all about all things nerdy! Dear friends. I know I am HORRIBLE at keeping in touch with you. I suck! I know. I just have to work on family first! Dear Dad. Be safe in Dubai. The stories you told during Christina's graduation dinner scared me! Dear Colon. I am so excited to get the bed for the guestroom/craftroom this weekend. Finally, my room will be COMPLETE!

Thoughts: Hump day edition

+++ While driving to work today, I almost hit a mattress.
In the middle lane.
 Of the highway.
Yup.
Where was the mattress owner?
Emergency lane watching while people were swerving.

+++ Late nights at work kind of suck.
Numbers at work did not add up.
 SO...
guess who got to stay late to detect where the difference came from.

+++ The new season of Real housewives of New Jersey is great.
The last episode made me cry.

+++Seeing Jacqueline and her dedication to Nicholas.
Inspiring.
Seeing Nicholas say "I love you" in the last episode.
Tear wrenching.

+++ I think my feelings towards Melissa are starting to change.
I loved her the last couple of seasons.
But I am seeing differences in her this season.

+++ I was surprised to see a shout out on this lovely lady's blog!
I have been reading her blog for a while and she is a favorite of mine!
So, Mrs. B The feeling is mutual!

+++ Does anyone else feel like bras are uncomfortable at times?
Do they make you feel...
trapped?

+++ This lady mentioned The Babysitters Club in one of her posts.
Now I am obsessed and HAVE to make my way to Netflix.
Get ready for a Netflix addiction ALL over again!

+++ How do you approach a friend that you KNOW is hurting?
Nothing I can say will make it better for them.
How do you let them know that you care?

+++ If you have not done so already, follow me on Bloglovin'

+++ Why the hell is the weekend taking forever to get here?

Learning experiences...

Things I have learned these past two weeks...

1. Freddy's ice cream sundaes are yumm-o.
So good.
I picked one up as a treat for Colon this weekend and we both have been craving it since then.

Via

2. Bob's Burgers is a hilarious show.
Unexpected!

Via

3. Periods come at the worst time.
Enough said!

4. It is hard to get in touch with my dad when he is out of the country.
Whenever I call, it just beeps and beeps and beeps.
I cannot leave a message.
I text and have no idea whether he gets them.
If he is getting them, does it cost him extra money to answer?
Why don't I know these things.

He calls me when I am not near a phone (i.e. most of the time at work).

I am horrible with this keeping in touch thing!

5. Archie comics are the best. I am obsessed and cannot stop reading them.

How old am I?

Via

6. The Mummy is one of my favorite movies!

Via

7. Getting a new lens for your camera really is exciting.
I just got a 55-300mm lens for my camera.
 It is amazing!
So excited to take it out and take pictures!

8. When you buy things online, never pay with your bank account (or debit card).
Just use a credit card!
I paid for something last week with my debit card and was charged TWICE.
It took a couple days for my money to be returned.
You would think I would know better since I work at a bank.
So stupid!

9. I need to buy some swimsuits! Arizona is HOT and I need pool gear!

10. Game of Thrones is killing me.
I watched the last couple of episodes and could not stop saying,
"I am DONE with this show"
over and over and over again.
Of course, I will keep watching...but still.
And NO I will not spoil it for you guys.
Watch it!

11. I am so happy that Colon's friend is interning here in Arizona.
I met him through Colon in Gainesville and really liked this guy.
He was just cool.

12. My brother is amazing. And strong.
I love him to death!
Keeping in touch with him isn't as hard as keeping in touch with my dad!

13. I am loving my coworkers.
I am finally feeling like I fit in!

I missed you guys a lot!
Now, I need to catch up on all of your posts!

XO

This time last year...

NYC. May 2012. FOA Schwartz

* I was living in Gainesville, Florida.

* I had just come back from a trip to NYC that my boyfriend gifted to me for my birthday.

* We had moved into our new apartment in this apartment complex three weeks earlier. We loved our new space.

* Long-distance was starting AGAIN because Colon started another internship in Arizona. Sadness...

* Spending the day shopping (Read... Ikea) in Orlando with a best friend made my day a hundred times better.

* Reading was important in my life...

* Cabernet Sauvignon was my go-to drink

* I NEVER thought we would live in Arizona in less than a year.

It's funny how much life can change in a year. I am excited to see where I will be next!

XO
