It's OK...short and crampy

Its Ok Thursdays

It's OK that...

+ Aunt Flow is in town with all the cramps and aches that it brings.

+ I am actually quite sad that tomorrow is my last day of work. I have grown to love my coworkers.

+ My "Books to read" list is going to take me over 10 years to finish if I only read 12 books a year. I wish I read faster!

+ I cannot think of much to write about. I am grumpy and hurting because of my friend Aunt Flow. So...

+ I am going to leave you guys with this short post.

That's Ok, right?

love you all!

XO

You should try these....

It's Wednesday guys!
Time is flying! Two more days and then the weekend is upon us. I am in shock at how quickly these days are going by.

My week has consisted of work, a good book, and trying out the Sweetheart VoxBox that I received from Influenster.

I mentioned the box in my last post. My excitement has not faded. I was so rude in that post, though. I did not even name the products that I received. So, here is the list of products. (The italicized writing is the description on the Voxbox card)

+ Olay Fresh Effects {Va-Va-Vivid!} Powered Contour Cleansing System
"A Vibrating, tri-tip facial cleansing brush that packs some punch! This battery-powered device reaches deep into contours, liberating skin from dirt, oil, and makeup in hard-to-reach places for a clean that is 400% better than basic cleaning"

+ Olay Fresh Effects {Shine, SHine Go Away!} Shine Minimizing Cleanser
"All the purifying power of a mask with the fresh feel of a daily cleaner. This face wash gently lathers and reaches deep into skin to help reduce the appearance of pores"

+ Secret Clinical Strength Stress Response
"Did you know there are three causes of sweat - heat, movement and stress? Stress sweat comes form a different gland, so it actually smells worst. Secret Clinical Strength Stress Response in Serene Citrus is uniquely formulated to protect you from all three causes of sweat, especially stress sweat. It's proven 4x more effective at protecting against stress-induced underarm wetness than the wetness protection required of an ordinary antiperspirant.

+Skinnygirl Daily On-The-Go Bar
With only 180 calories per bar, you can enjoy Skinnygirl Daily On-The-Go bars guilt-free. The bars are natural, kosher, and high in fiber. All bars now have MORE protein, MORE fiber & FEWER carbs! These bars are the perfect indulgent treat for individuals looking to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

---------------------

I got home from work last night and decided to try the Olay Fresh Effects {Va-Va-Vivid!} Powered Contour Cleansing System with the  Shine Minimizing Cleanser.

I was skeptical when I saw this in my box. Especially when I saw that it was approximately $13. Usually cleansing systems are way more expensive and the cheaper systems do not work very well. I tried this anyways.

I decided to use face wipes to wipe off my makeup BEFORE I used the cleansing system. My face wipes work well, but I always feel that I need to wash my face AFTER using the face wipes. It never seems to get ALL of the makeup out.

Then it was time to use the cleansing system. After reading the instructions, I put a drop or two of the cleanser on the brush and splashed my face with some water. I then turned the machine on and started moving the brush in circles on my face.

I have to say that I was quite impressed. I could see makeup on the brush when I was done. I also wiped my face with a face wipe one more time and I did not see ANY makeup on the wipe. That is awesome. My face felt amazing. It just felt clean.

I did notice that two drops of the cleanser was not enough. I tried using a larger amount today and it worked ten times better.

Would I recommend this? I definitely would. It works great  AND for $13 you won't be breaking the bank!

--------------

I have a weird routine in the mornings while getting ready. I line everything up in the order in which I am going to use them. Mouthwash. Toothpaste. Face wash  Face moisturizer.Deodorant. Primer. Makeup. Mist and set. Perfume. Etc.

This morning, while I was reaching for my Secret deodorant, my VoxBox caught my eye. That was when I decided to try out the Secret Clinical Strength Stress Response that was in my VoxBox.

I have always used Secret deodorants and have never felt the need to switch to another brand. So, I was excited when I saw a Secret product in my VoxBox. Whenever I try a new deodorant (from Secret), my first instinct is to smell it. Thus, the first thing I did after opening the box, was smell the deodorant. YUMMY! It was sweet and smelled amazing. The great thing about the smell was that it was not too strong or too intense.

Eleven hours went by without reapplying the deodorant. I was home and getting ready to take a shower. I smelled my armpit. (Yes. Weird. I know. BUT I do not care!) It still smelled citrusy. No stink. Nothing.

PLUS... The deodorant did not leave streaks or stains on my black shirt. (Which is awesome!)

If there is another scent, I will definitely buy this again. (I usually do not like citrusy smelling deodorants).

-----------------

I also tried the Skinnygirl Daily On-The-Go Bar. I was not necessarily "on-the-go" today but I could not resist the urge to try the bar. I received the Coco-nut bar and it was delicious. It was a mixture of coconut flavor and peanut butter flavor.  I do not like when the coconut taste is overpowering. I also feel the same about peanut butter. So, I was surprised when  I could taste both flavors without cringing.

The only problem I foresee is not being able to stop eating them. I guess I have to work on my self control!

---------

...and I have rambled on about my VoxBox. I am sorry if I bored anyone. I just want to get the word out about these products. You should definitely try them ALL.

There was one more product in my VoxBox. I will tell you about it in a separate post!

Love you all!

XO

"I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes."

Sweatheart...

So...

I am extremely excited. I have been receiving so many surprises in the mail for the past few weeks. The most recent surprise?

My SweetHeart Voxbox from Influenster.

I cannot wait to try everything out. You will definitely hear my thoughts on these products once I get around to trying them out.

In other news, this is my last week at my current job. I am a little bit sad because I have come to like the people I work with. It's funny how that happens, right?

I have come to a routine and am going to have to switch it up next week. I am actually quite nervous about the change. To deal with the nervousness, I have been concentrating on my book-a-month resolution. I have already read 2 books this year and am currently half way done with another book. All of my reads for the year have been great.

1.Frankenstein - Mary Shelley
2. The Constant Princess- Philippa Gregory (Reread)

I definitely recommend these books.

...and I have to eat before work.

Love you all!

Let's Pizza...

I am so sore today.
Colon is also sore and has bruises in various places on his body.
This weekend was great.

Friday:

I received the call from my new job stating that I passed the background check and they gave me my official start date. I have no idea why I was so nervous about the background check. I have nothing to hide and nothing on my record that would prevent me from getting the job.

Once I got off of work, the rest of my Friday was spent packing and getting ready for... a SKI TRIP!

Yup. We were still planning on going because Colon bought the tickets already. The thing was starting to show the symptoms of my cold. He was getting sick. AND I was still getting over the sickness. SO, we made sure to pack some cold medicine and lots and lots of tissues. We were in bed by 11.

Saturday:

Started at 4 something in the morning. We had to meet up with people at 5. SO we had to hurry and get everything into the car.

The views during the drive were just...breathtaking.

I wish I would have taken more pictures.

The skiing was so much fun, but the day ended in frustration. Remember, this was only my second time skiing. The first time I went skiing, I learned on fresh powder. Saturday was more difficult. The snow was packed and a lot more slippery. I then made the mistake of advancing to a steeper lift and face planted. I am sure it was funny for those that were watching (AKA Colon), but I was so frustrated. AND the fall kind of scared me. I also ended up hurting my knee when I fell.

After the day of snowing, we checked into our hotel and freshened up. We were all pretty tired, hungry, and sore. On our way to dinner, we realized that it started snowing. It was just so beautiful!

Sunday:

Started at 6 something in the morning. We were all sore but weer determined to make the day a successful one. Colon and I were still feeling sick, so we made sure to take some medicine.

Colon went and did some runs right away. I played in the snow and took it easy at the beginning. After two or three ski runs, I decided to make it a day and hang out in the lodge. I met some interesting people and enjoyed the view from the lodge.

This weekend was amazing. Now it is time to get back into the weekly grind.

I hope everyone else's weekend was as awesome as mine.

Love you all!

XO

Oreos... I just can't say no

It's almost Friday people.

We just have to get through today and tomorrow. I am slowly recovering. The boogies have stopped flooding out of my nose, and are just trickling through here and there. Gross. I know!

I am feeling so much better.

Thank God. Colon and I are going up to Snowbowl this weekend to ski. I have to be sure that I am healthy. I don't want any boogies getting in my way.

Beatles song were playing in my head all day yesterday. Even when I got my fingerprints done for my new job. <yay!>

It's OK though. I love the Beatles. They soothe me and make the day 100x better.

Its Ok Thursdays

So, It's OK that...

+ I have to bring a large tub of tissues to work today. Not just the tiny to-go packs. those never have enough tissues.

+ My Kindle is ALWAYS in my purse. It is a staple. I will choose my Kindle over any kind of lipstick or lipgloss.

+ I got a 2 year Archie comic subscription last night. I am so excited!

+ I said I would only eat one Oreo. I am on my fifth one. Sorry. Not sorry.

+ We have not cooked a meal in a week. It's just so much easier to go out to eat. Should  break that streak tonight?

+ I got another shipment from E.L.F. I am obsessed with makeup. Help!

+ I STILL get the butterflies when I see Colon unexpectedly. He stopped by work today and my stomach was all in flutters when I saw him. I love him to death!

+ the Oreos I ate belong to Colon. SHOCKER....

+ I have to go.

Colon and I are going to buy more ski gear.

Here comes the Sun...

It's a Beatles kind of day.

I woke up to the sound of sprinkling water (rain...oh my!) and I dreamt of the Cirque du Soleil Beatles "Love" show that we saw in Vegas.

If you did not know, I LOVE the Beatles.

SO, enjoy the music!

XO,

There's nothing you can do that can't be done...

Boogies and a soar throat.

That is how I spent the last couple of days. BUT this weekend was still amazing.

Weekend Colon and I woke up at 7 AM (it was supposed to be at 5 AM) to drive to Vegas.

I was grumpy, tired, and feeling a cold coming on but once we got on the road, I started to cheer up. Colon and I have been thinking about this trip for a long time. We originally planned to go by ourselves, but then Colon suggested that we go with some friends of ours, Sven and Alyssa. (There names have been changed for privacy sake). I described the first time we met here.

I loved spending time with them and I had so much fun this weekend. The only down side to this trip was my cold. It got worse as the weekend progressed and I am now sitting here typing this with an achy body. sore throat, and a raw nose.

Best part of the trip? The Cirque du Soleil "Love" performance. AMAZING! I could not stop singing and smiling! (Hence the title of the post!) I love the Beatles!

Second best part of the trip? Stopping at the Hoover Dam on the way home. So humbling. PLUS, I never knew that the dam was in both Arizona and Nevada. Mind blown.

I did not get too many pictures during the trip, but I got a few. Most of them are scenery pictures of the drive and of the strip.

I will post more pictures manana. I need to rest!

I hope you all had an amazing weekend and an amazing first day of the week!

XO

PS... I actually saw myself featured in this post. Kind of cool. Can you find me?

Another one? Dear...

Hey Ya'll... It's Friday.

Ok. Let's be honest. We have 3 minutes until it is Saturday. I am exhausted and tired. Today was the longest day of my life.  So, please forgive me for jumping right into my letters!

Photobucket

Dear job prospect. Thank you for calling me yesterday to schedule a job interview. I was feeling extremely low because I had not heard from you in awhile.

Dear retail job. I am finally starting to like you.

Dear Colon. I love sharing my Cookies and Creme Pizookie with you. Yummy!I love you.

Dear job interview. I am so glad that I got you over and done with. I was so nervous and I know I rambled through the interview. I am so embarrassed thinking about you!

Dear work (AKA retail job). You took up the rest of my day. I got to work with one of my favorite coworkers. I had a lot of fun.

Dear job prospect. You are no longer a prospect. It is awesome that you offered me the job within 4 hours of the interview. I am excited... and so grateful!

Dear blogworld. I hope your Valentines day was amazing.

Dear Colon. Thank you so much for the low key and relaxing Valentines day. It was just what I needed.

Dear self. Get excited for the weekend Vegas trip. Stop being so nervous! Have fun!

All you need is love...

Yup. That is all you need. BUT I need to say three words to everybody!

Via

I hope everyone is having fun tonight. Whether you have a Valentine or not, make the most of tonight. Hell, I have a Valentine and really just want to have a relaxing night in.

Speaking of my Valentine:

My FAVORITE picture of the two of us.

 I love you babu.
I am so happy that we have been together for the last five and  a half years.
You make me so happy and I am so glad that I moved to Arizona with you.
No regrets.
You are my rock and my support.
You always know what to say to make me smile.
You always know how to make me feel loved.
I love you.
So much.

...and I am done being mushy.

It's OK to be mushy, though. Do you know what else is OK?

Its Ok Thursdays

It's OK...

+ That I waited more than two weeks to buy Draino for my bathroom sink and tub.

+ That I started to laugh out loud in the mall when I saw the email from Influenster letting em know that I am getting another Voxbox. Oh yeah, babu.

+ That I am nervous about the interview that I have tomorrow. My job  prospects are coming together!

+ That I am finally liking my job and this interview is throwing me through an emotional loop.

+ That I have been dreaming about skiing every night this week. I want to go back!

+ That I sent robot Valentine cards to my friends. I told you I was still a kid!

+ That I bought a card for Colon and thought that the colors on it were orange and blue. (Go Gators). In reality, the colors were purple and red. Go figure.

+ That I bought a Valentines card for Colon because I thought they were the colors of my Alma Mater. Kind of weird, right?

+ That I have been craving a chocolate bar for a week and FINALLY gave in tonight. I ate a Snickers bar and it was damn good.

+ That I am nervous about this weekend's Vegas trip. I do not know what to expect... But I am still excited.

+ That Colon and I do not have plans for Valentines day.

+ That I am so in love with Colon. Even after over 5 years of dating.

+ That I am going to stop for now because Colon just got home and said we were going somewhere.

Love you all and Happy Valentines day!

XO

Squish the banana

Just another phrase I learned this weekend.

Ahhhh... it was so amazing. I cannot even believe the amount of fun I had. It started with a great Friday night at The Hungry Monk (at least I think that is what it is called!) for Happy Hour.  We met up with some of Colon's friends for some drinks. I think this will become a weekly thing. After we freshened up and changed  we all headed out to Tempe for more drinks and some dancing.

Beginning of the night. NOT all mine :)  Only one of those glasses  is mine.
Saturday was such a beautiful day.

Colon and I started with errands. He had to take his car in and I was along for the ride. We then had lunch at Rudy's (Yummy Bar-b-que) where I pigged out on a half pound of baby back ribs.

The rest of the day (and weekend) flew by. This weekend was a weekend of firsts.

We spent the rest of Saturday picking out clothes for the snow. A first. I had never really seen snow. SO... we headed to Ski Pro (again... I am not sure of the name of the store). They were having a sale and we spent hours trying to figure out what we needed. We ended up buying:

Our first layer. These things are funny to me. Not at all flattering.
- A couple of fleece sweater/ shirts. This was what we got for our second layer.
- Ski/ snowboarding jackets. So freaking expensive. Even with the sale discount.
- Ski/ Snowboarding pants.
- Socks. I never knew that you needed a special kind of socks for the snow
- Glove liners and gloves. Who knew that glove liners existed AND that there were different types of gloves/ mittens.

I learned a lot within the store. I started to feel overwhelmed while we were in there. So many options.

That visit left us pooped. So we headed home and watched cartoons (Foster's Home of Imaginary Friends) for an hour or two before heading to dinner.

It was so easy to fall asleep that night. We were tired from shopping and were so excited for the next day!

Sunday started quite slow. Our alarm went off at 4 am and Colon got up. Notice how I only mentioned Colon. I was too tired to get up right away. He had to coerce me to get out of bed. But once I was up, the excitement motivated me to get ready.

On went the first layer. Then the second layer. Eventually we were out the door. We met up with Colon's friends and started our commute to Flagstaff. Colon's friend just bought a HUGE Excursion (***not new. This is important!) and offered to drive. So, we piled into the HUGE car and drove. It was cool seeing the scenery change from dry desert to snow. It was amazing.

I first saw the snowy mountains from afar. Then came the small patches of snow on the sides of the highway. Then small flakes started to fall from the sky. This was my first experience with snow and words cannot describe the way it made me feel. Everyone kept saying that I was lucky to have fresh, powdery snow for my first skiing experience.

Once we got to the resort, Colon and I rented our gear and signed up for out lessons. We missed the 10 AM lesson so we had to get the 1 PM lesson. Since we had so much time before our class, we decided to go out to the bunny hills by ourselves and mess around. Colon jumped on his snowboard right away. I was watching other people practice. Finally, I decided to try it out. I put on my ski but I am an idiot and put on the ski while facing downhill.

Guess what happened...

As soon as I got my ski on, I started to head downhill. I accelerated so quickly and since I never had a lesson I had no idea how to stop. Eventually, I was able to make myself fall. I was so scared after that, but I decided to keep trying. Especially since the girlfriend of one of Colons friends/ coworkers came over and gave me tips.

Finally, it was time for our lessons. Believe it or not I did not fall while skiing. I only fell getting off of the lift. Those things scare me!

Near the end of the lesson, the snow started coming down hard. I could hardly see anything, so I decided to go back in and call it a day. All in all, I LOVED skiing and I cannot wait to go back and try again. So much fun!

Once we left the resort, we decided to go to a Thai restaurant before we made the two hour journey home. I wish I could remember the name so I could recommend it to you all!

We thought we were going to have a smooth ride home. We were EXTREMELY wrong. There was bumper to bumper traffic two hours from Phoenix. While we were sitting through this traffic, the car rumbled and died. It turns out the gas gauge was not working and the driver was keeping track of the gas by his gas mileage calculations. Apparently he was not taking several factors into account. So... After  thirty or so minutes, we had to have the snow plows plow the snow from the road shoulder and Arizona highway patrol tow us to the side of the road. We then waited for an hour or two for someone to come out and bring us a gallon or two of gas. When someone finally arrived, we realized they did not have gas. They were told that they would have to tow us. Anyways, we ended up waiting another thirty minutes to an hour for him to come back and get gas.

While all of this was going on, I was scared, nervous, and frustrated. Everyone had work the next day and we were all exhausted from the skiing/ snowboarding. I kept envisioning us freezing to death. But we didn't. We FINALLY filled up our tank and decided to freshen up at a rest area before we started the long journey to Phoenix.

Snow on the tree at the rest area. Just beautiful!

My being immature touching the snow on the tree at the rest area.
We FINALLY made it into Phoenix and were so close to picking up our car, when we see the flashing lights of a cop. I was pissed. I was exhausted and fed up. I just wanted my bed. The cop gave a warning to the driver for not having mud flaps on his car and we were done for the night. It did not take me long to fall asleep that night. That's for sure!

This weekend was amazing and I LOVE skiing. I have been dreaming about skiing for the past two days and Colon has been itching to go snowboarding again.

Sorry for such a long post. I just had to tell ya'll about my amazing weekend!

Dear... It's me Lourdes

It's Friday and it just feels so good.

It is 68 degrees outside, a little bit windy, and it is such a beautiful day. The perfect day to end the week and start the weekend. I am sitting here eating Pistachio Almond Ice cream and just relaxing. So... I think I will just start with my letters...

Photobucket

Dear Colon. I KNOW you are so excited about the Vegas trip. I'm excited, too! It's sooooo close!

Dear passport. How long is it going to take for you to come to me? Colon wants to take a trip to Mexico and I NEED you to get here so I can go, too!

Dear Pistachio-Almond ice cream. I am so happy that no one is here to witness me eating you out of the tub. SO YUMMY!

Dear Hautelook.  I LOVED the e.l.f. sale that you had a week or two ago. I received my order and am excited to use  my new brushes. By the way, you sent me body shimmer (I am not a stripper) instead of bronzer.

Dear hair. I got you trimmed today and you are looking so much healthier. Say bye-bye to all those split ends. PLUS, the leave in products/ conditioners are doing wonders.

Dear Flagstaff. We will meet this weekend. I am nervous and oh-so-excited to see the snow. I think I will have to skip the skiing this weekend and just enjoy the snow. I cannot wait!

Dear job. I came home satisfied last night. Yesterday, made me so comfortable and excited about working for you (at least for the time being). Thank you for giving me the opportunity to work with such great coworkers. I feel blessed.

Dear It's a 10. You are amazing. My hair and I want to thank you!

Dear self. Why were you so pessimistic about your job situation. I know you are looking for something else, but in the mean time, this job is great.

Dear Vine app. Why are you only for Apple? All my friends are getting it and I want it too! Please make an Android app soon so I can be cool too!

Dear wrist. Why are you hurting. It started yesterday as I was driving to work and it has not gotten better. Please stop!

Dear Cox. I TOLD you that we would drop you I we did not receive better service. Now it's time we part ways!

Dear bloggers. I love you all. Hope you have an eventful weekend!

XO
