I am so lucky...

To have spent FIVE years with this guy...

(I chose this picture because I know he will comment on it!!!)

Five years is a long time.

I am sure I drive him crazy and he probably questions his sanity (and mine) every day. But that's OK because I love him.

These past five years have been remarkable. Yes, we have been through some hard times but we have gotten through them. We have learned so much about each other and in turn have learned a lot about ourselves.

I could go on and on about our relationship and about how amazing Colon is. But, I'd rather not. I just want to say...

I love you baby.

Happy Five Year anniversary.

I just want to...

Take pictures

ALL DAY

EVERY DAY!

And now... that can be my reality. Why? Well... because I got this:

From Instagram

Yes. Your eyes are not fooling you. It's the Nikon d5100 and I am in love. Before I continue, I have to thank my boyfriend for getting me this camera. I have mentioned my need want of a new camera for a couple of months, but I have been annoying the past couple of weeks. Every chance I got, I would start shooting away with my imaginary camera and saying
"tch-tch-tch-tch". :::That is supposed to be the shutter sound:::

Needless to say, Colon picked up on my hints. He kept saying that he would get the camera for our New York trip (which is less than two weeks away...yes!!!!!!) as long as I come up with a reasonable budget for the trip. So, that is what I did last weekend. (Yeah...that and finished all of the seasons of Mad Men that are on Netflix! Love that show). So, I came up with a budget and we determined that getting a camera was plausible.

Fast forward to Friday (yesterday). Colon picks me up from work. When we get home, I start my home-from-work routine. I go into the closet to change. But, what do I see? A HUGE pile of dirty clothes in the closet. My first response is "BABY, SERIOUSLY" and all I hear is, "I'm sorry baby. I was in a hurry. Can you please pick it up". So, I picked it up and as I started to lift the clothes I noticed a box. That is when I started to scream. I was so excited. The next hour was a blur. I am so happy.

So that is the story of how I got my camera. It also indicates how lucky I am to have Colon. He likes to play  "tough" but he is a sweetheart. He is so loving and so affectionate. I am so lucky to be with him and am proud to say that our five year anniversary is on Monday.

Did you read that? I said that we have been together for

FIVE

years. It has been five amazing years and I am excited for five more years together. To celebrate, I am planning a trip to the springs. Maybe a picnic basket. Some wine. My camera. Something romantic. Something relaxing.

We have to relax, because we have started to pack for our move. We pick up the keys to the new apartment on Tuesday and I cannot wait. I just hate packing. It reminds me of how much of a hoarder I am. (This actually led to a meltdown last night. It was sad. But you would be proud. I actually filled 3 trash bags last night). So, yeah. We are packing and moving in the next two weeks.

Then, comes my birthday and our trip to New York. Eventful and busy times. My life is great at the moment!

Now, I have to continue packing...

XO

The Curious Case ...of a Geisha?!?

Hahahahaha <==== That is what I am hearing right now.

I am in bed using the netbook to type. I am comfortable and ready for bed. A real old lady. What is Colon doing? Laughing his ass off while watching Shin Chan AND being extremely lazy working extremely hard on his project. For those of you who are thinking "What the hell is Shin Chan," Just look at the picture that I posted below.
found here

Such a weird show, but I have to admit that I enjoy it. Shhhhhh don't tell Colon

Anyways, I am currently in bed, watching Monk, and trying to relax. I plan on opening a book turning on my Kindle and reading my latest book. This has become my nightly routine and I love it. PLUS, I have added two more books to my "completed" list.

The last time I wrote about my "Book a month" resolution, I mentioned that I had started Memoirs of a Geisha. It took me nine days to finish it (which is basically forever) but I think it was good timing since work and other responsibilities got in the way. I definitely recommend this book and it was hard for me to put it down.

I remember when the movie came out a couple of years ago. (I was still in high school...I think it was during my junior year). Everyone said the book was amazing and that the movie was amazing. I had never seen the movie and always thought a Geisha was a prostitute. I am serious. that is what I thought and was quite hesitant to read the book. I am so glad that I read the book and I am so sad that the book is over.

I finished the book this morning right before I went to work and I was ready to go buy the movie during my lunch break. But, I did not do that. I ate lunch and started a new book. Change of mood and change of pace.

A few years ago, I saw the movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I had no idea there was a book (short story) by the same name. That is why I was so excited when I came across the short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I have read many of his works and have enjoyed them. I also thought that the book would be similar to the movie. I was wrong. I started the book at lunch and finished it when I got home from work. It literally took me 2 or 3 hours (total) to read the book. It was short and did not live up to my expectations. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it.

So, I guess I can add 2 more books to my list...

1. Dracula -Bram Stoker
2. The Vampire Chronicles: Interview with the Vampire -Anne Rice
3. The Vampire Chronicles: The Vampire Lestat -Anne Rice
4. The Vampire Chronicles: The Queen of the Damned - Anne Rice
5. The Vampire Chronicles: The Tale of the Body Thief -Anne Rice
6. The Hunger Games -Suzanne Collins
7. Catching Fire- Suzanne Collins
8. Mockingjay -Suzanne Collins
9. Alice in Wonderland -Lewis Carrol
10. Memoirs of a Geisha
11. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button- F. Scott Fitzgerald

Seeing this list makes me feel great. I have not broken my resolution and I can technically stop after the next book. BUT I will not do that.

What am I going to read next?

Wideacre by Philippa Gregory. It's a great book that I read several years ago. Actually I have already read the series, but I can't remember anything. So, I am going to read it again.

OK... I am tired and falling asleep. I think I will fore go reading tonight and I'll just start the book manana.

Have a great night everyone!

XO

Selfish people and some happiness

Lourdes to blog world. Do you copy?

I'm back from a day at work and I just had a few things on my mind. Rather than go into detail about things, I thought I would just list my thoughts. Beware... Many of the things on this list are stemming from events that happened today.

- I have said it many times before on this space of mine, but I have to say it again. People want things to be fair until they need want something. People are just selfish at times. It makes me so angry. Actually, it worries me.

- Take responsibility for your actions and take control of a situation. Just because someone else is the cause of a current dilemma, does not mean they are going to remedy the situation. Take control and don't expect others to do it for you. If you rely on others, it will most likely bite you in the butt.

- Colon and I have about 2 weeks until our relationship completes it's fifth year. I am shocked and so happy. Eek... I remember when we first started dating...

- I am sooooo excited about our trip to New York City. Have I mentioned it before? Well, Colon is taking me to New York City for our anniversary/ my birthday. I have been several times and have done the "touristy" things before. Colon has not. SO I am trying to fit everything into 3 days... Bahh...decisions... decisions...

- I have been obsessed with Mad Men. I just finished Season 3 and started season 4.
Donald Draper. Yummy
Betty Draper. Gorgeous.
The outfits. Beautiful.

The show is awesome and it makes me want to live in the '60's. I have a love-hate relationship with Don. I hate when he cheats, but I cannot help but love him. Same for Betty.

- I can eat a whole (large) bag of M&M's in a day. I have not tried it, but I am sure if I didn't stop myself, I would it them all.

- I have so much to be grateful for. Love. Life. Family. Health. Happiness...

Speaking of happiness... here's last weeks happiness list:

Monday April 9: Booking the hotel for out NY trip This made the trip real. So EXCITED! Tuesday April 10: New work uniforms This probably sounds weird, but this gets rid of some of my morning stress. You know what I am talking about. The stress of picking out work-appropriate clothing. Wednesday April 11: Titanic 3D with Kirsten Yes. I saw it. I went with the perfect person and had a blast. Thursday April 12: ELF makeup brushes Have you ever used their products. They are the best and are affordable. I suggest you try them! Friday April 13: Hanging out with Diego He's a great friend and I had not hung out with him in months. That is why I was excited to go to Wine and Cheese (yes, I know I go there all of the time) with him. We had a great time. Saturday April 14: Dressing up There was a Gala for the society Colon is in. I dressed up and I loved it. I love feeling pretty! Sunday April 15: Colon taking care of me let's just say that there was a little too much drinking this weekend. Colon took care of me on Sunday. He is the best.

And I can promise that there was plenty more things that occurred this week that made me happy. Life is great right now. I just have to push aside the annoying things. The hard part is keeping that in mind.

Come back...

So, I just got back from seeing Titanic and

I. LOVED. IT

I have not seen it in forever and seeing it at the movies with Kirsten made it so much better. What did I love about the movie? Where do I begin...

*Leonardo DiCaprio. Gorgeous!
Taken from here

*Kate Winslet. I never appreciated her in this movie until I saw it today. She is beautiful!

Taken from here

*The beautiful ship...
Taken from here
Taken from here
Taken from here

*The dresses... (I think I wrote this post just to say that I loved the dresses)

Taken from here

And there is so much more... but I don't want to bore you.

Just know that I love this movie!

XO

Get jealous...

I'm leaving in 10 minutes to go see Titanic 3D...

Oh yeah. It's OK to be green with envy. I would be, too.

XO

I have not broken it yet...

I have not been updating my progress in my "book a Month" resolution, but I have been keeping up with my reading. I am proud to say that I have not broken my resolution thus far.

I guess I can start with my book(s) for March. I started off the year with a vampire trend by reading the first few books of The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. They are great books but they are SOOOOO long. With my busy schedule, it was taking me forever to finish them.

At the end of February, when I finished The Body Thief, I moved on to the next book in the series. I got 30% into Memnoch The Devil when The Hunger Games was mentioned everywhere. There were commercials for the movie. It was everywhere on the blog-o-sphere.

Seeing all of the commercials for the movie got me so excited. I read the books a couple of months ago, but I wanted to make sure the books were fresh in my mind. Sooo... I decided to reread the books. Yup. I read three books in March and I am proud of myself. I finished the books a week before the month ended. Although it was my second time reading them, I was obsessed. I could not put the books down. That is why I took a break from reading at the end of March. That and I was so excited for the movie and did not want another story to "cloud" my memories of the book.

A couple of days ago, I decided to start a new book. I wanted something light and finishing Memnoch the Devil was not an option. So, I looked at the list of books that I made and saw that Alice in Wonderland followed the books in The Vampire Chronicles. I had never read the book and have only seen the movies. I was curious about Alice in Wonderland.  Was it going to be as trippy as the movies?

...and it was. It was short and sweet. Kind of confusing, but I definitely enjoyed it. Personally, I like the book more than I like the movie. I am just surprised at how short the book is. It literally took me 2 days to read and it took me 2 days because I had work and house chores that got in the way.

So, I have finished my April book. No more reading until May, right? Ha...like that would happen. I went to my handy-dandy reading list and found that Memoirs of a Geisha was next. Such a change in moods. I am a couple of pages into the book and am intrigued. I have not seen the movie and I know I am pretty late with reading the book. It seems like everyone I know has either a)seen the movie OR b) read the book. Nope. Not me. I am so behind. But I will catch up. The book is good so far.

So, this post was wordy and long. Sorry if it was boring. I commend you for staying and reading through this, though.

Before I go, I want to list the books I have read this year. Just so I can keep tabs.

1. Dracula -Bram Stoker
2. The Vampire Chronicles: Interview with the Vampire -Anne Rice
3. The Vampire Chronicles: The Vampire Lestat -Anne Rice
4. The Vampire Chronicles: The Queen of the Damned - Anne Rice
5. The Vampire Chronicles: The Tale of the Body Thief -Anne Rice
6. The Hunger Games -Suzanne Collins
7. Catching Fire- Suzanne Collins
8. Mockingjay -Suzanne Collins
9. Alice in Wonderland -Lewis Carrol

So that's 9 books in 4 months. That is pretty good. I am ahead for the year. That gives me a little leeway just in case a slack off. (You know how lazy I can get!)

Anyways... this post is long enough...

I'm going to read and then pass out.

Have an amazing night blogworld!

XO

She's got electric shoes...a mohair suit...

For the past week, ever since Kirsten got Benny, I have constantly heard one song in my head.

At night while I'm dreaming...

It's the soundtrack to my dreams...

At home while I am reading...

The song is playing in my head...

At work while I am working...

this damn song is in my head...

I randomly sing the ONE line that I know.

Can you guess what the song is?

Here's a hint...

The title of this post is a line from the song...

Need another hint?

27 Dresses has a cool scene where they sing this song in a bar...

Have you guessed it yet?

It's a catchy song and I bet you will have it stuck in your head when you figure it out...

(Kind of) Short and Sweet....

Not sure what has gotten into me the past few weeks. I have been lazy with blogging. Often, I find myself thinking

"I should blog today..."

or

"I should blog about this..."

and you know what happens? I open up a tab on the browser and open a new post. Then, I lose motivation. It's kind of sad. But, oh well.

Today is going to be quite random. Just random thoughts explaining my life as it has been the last few weeks. hope you enjoy...

*Colon has been so busy lately and I feel so bad for him. He has so much work to do and I can only imagine how much it sucks for him to see me dilly dally all day everyday (except for when I am at work).

*I don't understand how Colon gets his work done sometimes. Like I stated earlier, he is extremely busy with homework. BUT, he always has something on TV while he is doing homework. Also, Twitter and Facebook are always in the background. I still can't figure out how he is getting his work done.

*A few weeks ago, I mentioned how proud I am of a friend. He did something that was extremely difficult to do BUT he got himself out of a very bad relationship. Ever since then, life has thrown so many obstacles his way. He is strong and taking everything in stride, but he's slipping. I am worried about him. I am still proud, but I wish I could help him more.

*I can't say this enough. I AM LOVING WEEKENDS OFF!!!!

*I have to go through all of my belongings to get ready for the move. I am so excited and am ready to have more space for all of my junk stuff. TWO BEDROOMS baby! So excited!

*Colon got another internship for the summer. That means he is leaving again. I am kind of sad but I am so proud of him. This is great for his resume and it is just another thing that indicates that he is an amazing engineer.

*Although I am proud of Colon, I am still going to miss him.

*Colon and I decided that we would go on a trip before he goes on his next internship. YES! We decided on New York City. I am so excited! I am currently working on a To-Do list... any suggestions? I have been several times before, but Colon hasn't. I need to show him a great time!

*I am excited for the NY trip, but Colon leaves soon after we return home. Talk about conflicted.

*I want to do my 265 list for the past weeks now. Here I go...

Monday March 26: Bag of M&M's Yup. This is appearing on my list. Upon my return home from Orlando, my mom decided to give me a whole bag of peanut M&M's. I politely declined, but my mom could see the yearning in my eyes. She knows me so well Tuesday March 27: Colon's video game group It is so adorable. He meets up with a group of guys and I cannot help but smile. I finally met them and OH MY GOD. NERDY...but cute Wednesday March 28: Housing Fair Every year, UF has a Housing Fair where apartment complexes in Gainesville come to "advertise" for their property. I went this year and had a blast. it was great "hanging out" with the work crew and seeing all of the students at our table. Thursday March 29: Another internship and a chocolate cake Yup. i mentioned his new internship earlier. What I did not mention was the chocolate cake that I bought for him. He deserved it and I know he liked it. YUMMY! You can see it right here...

Friday March 30: Benny Every time I say/write that, I think of the song. But, i am not talking about the song here. I am talking about my friend's new cat. The cutest most laid back cat in the world.  Saturday March 31: Being invited to a private blog Yup... someone put their blog on "private" and I actually got invited. This really made my day! Sunday April 1: lazy Sundays How can this not make me happy???? Monday April 2: Keeping busy at work Making the day go by so much faster! Tuesday April 3: Colon's speech Yup...he's great at public speaking and it made me proud when I saw him up there giving his speech. That's my man! Wednesday April 4: Catching up on Weeds Great Show! I definitely recommend it! Nancy is frustrating at times... and I actually liked her with Esteban Thursday April 5: Instagram for Android I am addicted already and I have only had it for a week. Follow me! My Instagram handle is "lechagar" Friday April 6: Wine and Cheese with Kirsten She is slowly becoming one of my best friends. Love her to death. AND her willingness to come to Wine and Cheese only makes it better! Saturday April 7: Spring cleaning Sunday Needed to be done! April 8: 21 Jump Street Channing Tatum. YUMMY! Seriously though, the movie is hilarious!

*Yesterday was Easter.

HAPPY EASTER everybody!
