Picture a Day: Day 5

I love walking around the University of Florida Campus. There is always something that will catch your eye. I always like the trees. Like the one in my picture. I see this one everyday, and it always makes me think. How can a tree be so beautiful?

Alone with myself

The trees bend to caress me

The shade hugs my heart

Picture a Day: Day 4

This is teddy. My boyfriend gave this to me on our first Valentines day and I love him to death. we have been through alot together, and I decided that teddy deserved to be the subject of at least one of the "picture a day" pictures.

"Cuddly and warm,

these calming features reassure me on the days

when fears fly before reason

and the world loom bleak instead of beautiful.

The Teddy Bear,

all things to all ages...

symbol that all is right with the world

if one only believes."

Picture a Day: Day 2

It's the second day. I was going through my closet and trying to organize my clothing. That is when I glimpsed my Gator jacket. I saw the Gator logo and I knew that was teh perfect thing to photograph for the day. Isn't it amazing? You may not think so, if you go to any other school, BUT this logo has encompassed my life these past four years. Football games. National Championships. Basketball games. Studies...etc.
What can I say? This logo sums up a great part of my life.

Much love,

Picture a Day: Day 1

This picture is part of my 43 Things "Picture a Day" goal. I am going to do this every day for a month.
For my first picture I decided I would take a picture of myself. I am beautiful and think that a picture of myself is helping me embrace that.
I hope you like it.

A picture a day... keeps the demons away

There is ALWAYS something amazing and beautiful out there and these things should be photographed. So, this is my goal. A picture a day for a month. Each picture should be accompanied by a caption. The caption can be a word, a sentence, or a paragraph. Just a description of how the picture makes me feel.

50-9 states to go

I have, so far, been to the following states:
Florida ( i live here)
New york

Many more to go. Not even 20% done.

William Wordsworth's "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" or "Daffodils": Analysis

"I WANDERED lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees, 5
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay: 10
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay, 15
In such a jocund company:
I gazed - and gazed - but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood, 20
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
- William Wordsworth, 1804"

Is it not interesting the way we detach ourselves from the beauty and awe of the world? We all walk around missing the subtle beauty of leaves swaying with the wind. We live in our own little bubble; our own little dream world. We walk in our own "little cloud" and it takes so much for us to break out of this shell and start appreciating the things in this world.

Just look around people.

Beauty is all over the place.

As you walk around, at least TRY to notice the subtle forms of beauty that can be found in nature and throughout this world.

The random flowers.

The morning dew on the leaves.

The rays of sunshine as it hits a water droplet.

It's so beautiful. It sometimes makes me cry. It evokes emotions in me that I cannot even describe. Emotions swell up in me.

Actually look at the clouds. Aren't they beautiful? The different shapes and the contrast between the white, fluffiness of the clouds to the blue hue of the sky. Or how about the stars? The bright, twinkling of the stars against the dark backdrop. It somehow gives me hope. It's as if that star is saying, "No matter how bad things are at the moment, There is always a small gleam of light". It is so amazing.

So, just look around. You will find something in nature, that will brighten your day and give you hope.

365 Days of Happiness August 11-August 18

I hope everyones life has been amazing. My life has been. Hence, I am extremely excited to put up another weeks worth of happiness.

Wednesday August 11

Orange soda

When I first met my boyfriend I thought it was extremely weird that he absolutely loved orange soda. It always reminded me of Kel from a show I used to watch, Keenan and Kel. But, that slowly changed. I am now addicted to orange soda. I do not know whether it is because I actually like it or if it is because it reminds me of my boyfriend. Nevertheless, I am addicted to orange soda and find myself buying it in the grocery store. Do you want to know the hint that orange soda makes me happy? The hint is the smile that always appears on my lips while drinking it.

Thursday August 12

The Beach

How many people can honestly say they hate the beach? Isn't that an absurd thought? A day in the sun, and splashing in the water. I love it. I have always had amazing memories at the beach. I mean, I practically grew up at the beach! So, yes, I cannot believe this did not make it onto the list earlier. But here it is. It is one of my true loves!

Friday August 13

Sudoku Puzzles
Here is my Friday routine (during school semesters) after I am done with classes:
1) Walk straight to get the Alligator
2) While walking to the bus stop, glimpse through the Alligator to find the Sudoku puzzle
3)Once on the bus, open to the Sudoku puzzle and proceed to complete the puzzle
4) etc etc
So, yes. The Sudoku puzzle is an important part of my routine. It gets me through a bus ride. I love buying Sudoku books and attempting to finish the entire book in a record time. And, DO NOT try to deny that you have a love for Sudoku puzzles. I know you probably have a stash of books hidden somewhere under your bed so that people do not discover them. :)
Saturday August 14
Grape soda
Unlike orange soda, I have always had a love for grape soda. Many people dislike it, but my love goes way back. I just do not know how to describe the attraction. All I can say is
Sunday August 15
Fruit by the Foot
This HAS to be every kids favorite snack. It's just so fruity and delicious. The rapping always had cool jokes and even tattoos. There were even different ways to eat it. You could savor the candy, or you could just chew it and gobble it up. Oh, how I used to beg for Fruit by the Foot.
Monday August 16
Red Nail Polish
There is something about red nailpolish that I love. I just cant put my finger on it. I think it is sexy and sophisticated at the same time. It just makes a girl look more put together and when I have a red manicure it always makes me feel really good.
Tuesday August 17
The hemp bracelet that Diego made me
I love hemp bracelets. But, I extra love this bracelet because my friend diego made it for me. the fact that he took the time to make this bracelet, and had me in mind, makes this bracelet more special. Enough said.
Wednesday August 18
Cherry flavored dum-dums
the other day, my friend picked me up a cherry flavored dum-dum and something clicked in my head. I REALLY LIKE THEM!!! They are sweet and not too filling. The greatest part is that its so small. Which leaves you no chance in getting sick of it!
So, That was my random list for the week. Hope you enjoyed!!!

Now Approaching: Grad School

It's finally happening. My summer is slowly coming to an end. It's August and tomorrow I have my graduate school orientation. In two weeks school finally starts and I am NERVOUS!

I am anticipating the hard work that is guaranteed to come but have mixed feelings about the intensity of the studies. I have believed for the past few years that I can be successful in graduate school. If I didn't believe I would never have applied. The doubts are just now hitting me and I have to confront them.

* Am I smart enough?

Everyone I talk to brushes off this question. But I believe this is legitimate. I will be entering a playing field with intelligent people. People who are by far more knowledgeable in the subjects than I am. But, I keep telling myself that I am a hard worker and am willing to put the time and effort to my studies. So, it doesn't matter if I am not "smart enough". As long as I work hard I will be successful.

Honestly, that is the one worry that keeps haunting me. Tomorrow, hopefully the school orientation calms me and soothes my worry.

With love,

"A Beautiful Mess"

Jason Mraz

You've got the best of both worlds
You're the kind of girl who can take down a man,
And lift him back up again
You are strong but you're needy,
Humble but you're greedy
And based on your body language,
And shoddy cursive I've been reading
Your style is quite selective,
though your mind is rather reckless
Well I guess it just suggests
that this is just what happiness is

Hey, what a beautiful mess this is
It's like picking up trash in dresses

Well it kind of hurts when the kind of words you write
Kind of turn themselves into knives
And don't mind my nerve you could call it fiction
But I like being submerged in your contradictions dear
'Cause here we are, here we are

Although you were biased I love your advice
Your comebacks they're quick
And probably have to do with your insecurities
There's no shame in being crazy,
Depending on how you take these
Words I'm paraphrasing this relationship we're staging

And what a beautiful mess, yes it is
It's like picking up trash in dresses

Well it kind of hurts when the kind of words you say
Kind of turn themselves into blades
And the kind and courteous is a life I've heard
But it's nice to say that we played in the dirt
Cause here, here we are, Here we are
Here we are [x7]

We're still here
What a beautiful mess, this is
It's like taking a guess when the only answer is "Yes"

Through, timeless words and priceless pictures We'll fly like birds not of this earth

And tides they turn and hearts disfigure
But that's no concern when we're wounded together

And we, tore our dresses and stained our shirts
But its nice today. Oh the way it was so worth it.

Jason Mraz is amazing. I love his music. This here is a song of his that I love. I suggest you not only read the lyrics, but listen to the song.
I sometimes wonder whether I am a beautiful mess. I know I'm beautiful (or so I am told) and I know that sometimes I say things without thinking on how they can affect those that love me.

Or are my relationships a beautiful mess. I beleive that all of teh relationships that I have in my life are beautiful.
Something to think about!!!!

"Next time your found, with your chin on the ground
There's a lot to be learned, so look around

Just what makes that little old ant
Think he'll move that rubber tree plant
Anyone knows an ant, can't
Move a rubber tree plant

But he's got high hopes, he's got high hopes
He's got high apple pie, in the sky hopes

So anytime your gettin low
Stead of lettin go
Just remember that ant
Oops there goes another rubber tree plant

When troubles call, and your backs to the wall
There's a lot to be learned, that wall could fall

Once there was a silly old ram
Thought hed punch a hole in a dam
No one could make that ram, scram
He kept buttin that dam

Cause he had high hopes, he had high hopes
He had high apple pie, in the sky hopes

So anytime your feeling bad
Stead of feeling sad
Just remember that ram
Oops there goes a billion kilowatt dam

All problems just a toy balloon
They'll be bursted soon
They're just bound to go pop
Oops there goes another broblem kerplop"

Frank Sinatra

Whenever I am doubting myself, or am completely second guessing myself, this song comes to mind. I actually sit there and sing this song under my breath. It sounds funny, and this sound is quite childish, but this song is inspiring.

I want to be that ant. That ant was able to move something that was considered impossible. Or how about that ram. I want to be that ram, who was able to break down the dam. AMAZING. I want to defy odds. I want to leave people in awe when they doubt me. I am going to do something amazing and prove people wrong. This is the mentality that EVERYONE should have. Do not let doubters bring you down and do not let them get in your head. what matters is what you believe. And, when you believe that you can do something, you will definitely be able to do it.

Remember, you can defy the odds and the negative thoughts if you believe in yourself.
